\"Zero waste\" is a phrase you may have heard a lot. But have you ever stopped and asked yourself what \"zero waste\" really means?

\"Zero waste\" was first put forward by a French woman named Bea Johnson. Her idea is very simple: live a life and try not to create any waste.

Yu Yuan, 27, is fascinated by this idea. She and her boyfriend Joe Harvey have lived in Beijing for many years. She used to be an impulsive consumer until she saw a video about \"zero waste\". The video is about a family of four, who produces only a can of waste every year.

After watching the video, Yu wanted to experience this zero waste lifestyle with her boyfriend. Yu says that a zero waste life follows the 6R principle — Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle and Rot. Last year from August to October when Yu followed the 6R principle, she and her boyfriend both produced only two cans of waste.

Now, the couple have opened China's first zero waste store in Beijing — The Bulk House. Most of the products in the store can be reused, and a small part of them which are not recyclable can degrade. The store also has second-hand books and CDs.

The zero waste lifestyle is becoming more and more popular in China. Are you ready to join Yu on the road to \"zero waste\"
